With extensive experience in the ophthalmic industry, NiPro Optics can manufacture custom precision electroformed nickel reflectors that range from 0.15” to 20” in size. Reflectors are manufactured in various, complex geometric shapes, including parabolic, elliptical, and spherical, according to customer's requirements.
Our CNC machining capabilities allow us to fabricate precisely polished mandrels required to produce the reflectors. Mandrels are designed in-house by experienced professionals using 3D CAD/CAM software. Additional features, such as notches and holes, can be produced on reflectors by building them directly into the tooling. This eliminates the additional stress on the electroformed parts caused while ...
Complex and intricate optical surfaces can be replicated at a fraction of the time compared to standard polishing processes and in much higher volumes. Our electroformed molds are used by manufacturers for casting and cost favorably as compared to traditional glass fabrication methods. They are also used for In-house (doctor) casting systems and used as inserts for injection molding of lenses. Stainless, copper alloys with chrome and diamond turned inserts can also be fabricated per customer requests.
Reflective "Zebra" stripped images are shown for the most common mold types in the drop down box.
Our coating chamber is fitted with automation and process control components such as quartz crystal rate and thickness controller, digital programmable sweep for the electron beam gun and high current broad beam ion gun to densify the coating and reduce the stress. The chamber is pumped down using a mechanical and cryo-pump and the parts are heated with quartz lamps.
We have developed unique coatings to meet the stringent requirements of the optics and lighting industry, such as:
Enhanced Rhodium. We apply this over any rhodium plated reflectors to increase its reflectivity to 90% from 75% in the visible region while reducing the reflectivity in the UV region and near IR band. This coating did not sustain damage in a 24 ...
Sometimes stripping a reflector or mold and refurbishing the product is the most cost effective method of restoring a piece of equipment to an operational status. Stripping and repolishing is not an easy or fast process and often the surface finish is improved but not to the orinigal surface quality of a new part but it's the only choice for the project.
NiPro Optics can rework most metal reflectors and molds and will give you an honest assessment of the outcome before we start. If the item needs new rhodium or a cold mirror coating we can do it.
The images below show two 10" reflectors for re-work with one is still in the stripping / rework stage and the other with a new cold mirror coating applied.
NiPro-Koat and Diamond Turned Ferrous Metals Coating Service / Technology for Sale
The success of our company is directly tied to research and development. NiPro Optics invests resources every day to improve our products and gain traction in evolving technologies.
NiPro-koat is a high phosphorous nickel coating process, refined specifically for diamond turned optics. It is superior to electroless nickel for this application, with advantages in plating cycle times, plating thickness (1mm+), finished surface roughness, and low tool wear.
With our extensive optical background (manufacturing products to the highest standards), we understand the need for high ...
NiPro Optics provides a full spectrum of precision manufacturing options to meet the demanding requirements of your optical project. With the use of single point diamond turning (SPDT), we have expanded our product offerings, and enhanced the quality of our core reflector and ophthalmic mold lines.
We apply 2 and 3 axis capabilities with the slow servo option to produce complex coordinate geometries in a variety of plastics and metals. Typical applications for diamond-turned finished optics include mirrors, reflectors, micro-optics, lens arrays, mold inserts, mandrels, and optical assemblies with many design parameters. Surfaces can be free form, aspheric, biconic, toric, ...
